Webb26 apr. 2011 · Joined Nov 6, 2010 872 Posts #5 · Apr 24, 2011 I did one recently (sorry no pics) I took 2x6's about 2'-3', routed the edges to make 'em look pretty, and fastened them to each side of my 6x6 to create a "cradle". Once the beam is fastened to the post with a pair of 1/2-inch bolts, the assembly will prevent beam rotation, and the integral post leg will also provide uplift-load-path continuity.
